Mountain Pointe Graduate J.R. Plote Plays in Jacks Spring Game

Former Pride football standout, J.R. Plote, played in his first collegiate spring football game at Coughlin-Alumni Stadium on the campus of South Dakota State University. J.R. is majoring in electrical engineering and will play defensive end for the Jacks in the fall. Check out some of the links below for more on the Jackrabbit’s 2012 Spring Game.

With the conclusion of the 2011-2012 school year, we are now beginning preparations for the upcoming 2012 fall football season. I would like to invite you to attend a meeting to learn about the MPHS Football program, and explore how you can contribute to the wonderful journey that your son is about to embark on as a member of the MPHS Pride Football family.

2012 Sports Physical Day at Mountain Pointe

Mountain Pointe High School, University Sports Medicine and the Mountain Point Sports Medicine Team are proud to announce that the 21st Annual Physical Day for 2012-2013 athletes will be held Saturday, May 19th in the small gym. MPHS team physicians Dr. Roger McCoy and Ian McLeod PA-C and staff will conduct quick, but thorough sports physicals for all athletes from 8am – noon. Sports physicals are $30.00 and much of the proceeds go back into the Mountain Pointe Sports Medicine program. This is a wonderful program and we encourage ALL MPHS athletes to participate.

Athletes should come at different times according to their sports’ season:

Spring Sports – 8am – 9:15am

Fall Sports – 9:15am – 10:45am

Winter Sports – 10:45 – Noon

Strength and Conditioning Football Camp 2012

The Pride Football Strength and Conditioning Camp will be held this summer in the weightroom. The Camp will run, Monday through Thursday, May 29th – July 26th with a two week break from June 29th – July 15th for summer vacation. Incoming Freshman will lift 7:00 -8:15am, Junior Varsity will lift 8:00-9:15am and Varsity will lift 9:00-10:15am. If you are taking summer school classes at Mountain Pointe, you will lift 1:00-2:15pm.

All athletes must complete the attached registration form.

2012 Pride Football Strength and Conditioning Camp

7 on 7 Tournament Dates Announced

Mountain Pointe Football will compete in passing league tournaments at the University of Arizona and Arizona State University this summer.

The Pride will take their show on the road first, traveling to Tucson for the annual University of Arizona 7 on 7 tournament on Saturday, June 2nd. The Pride had a great showing in Tucson last year at this tournament as both the Varsity and JV teams played late into the afternoon, including games played in the stadium.

The Arizona State University 7 on 7 tournament will be held on Tuesday, June 5th this summer. Last year the Pride performed very well at this tournament, again playing late into the afternoon and playing games in the Sun Devil Stadium.

The History of Pride Football

Mountain Pointe High School was opened in 1991, with legendary Head Coach Karl Kiefer starting the football program. One of Arizona’s most successful coaches, Kiefer instilled a strong football tradition that has continued for over 20 years. The philosophy of the program is to develop student-athletes both on and off the field, preparing players not only for football but also for life.

Become and Active Football Booster:
The MPHS Football Booster Club plays a critical role in helping build a successful football program at Mountain Pointe High School. The Boosters are comprised of parent volunteers who work to provide funds through fundraising activities, and volunteer support directly benefiting our three football teams (Freshmen, Junior Varsity, Varsity). This year, the Boosters will spend close to $100,000 in support of fundraising and services directly supporting our football teams. While many other public high school football teams charge each player significant fees to participate in football, our philosophy at MPHS is to enable everyone to participate. Through the support of the MPHS Football Boosters, and the fundraising efforts of the players themselves, we are able to maintain a very low cost of participation for all players.
·        Varsity $95 ($50 activity fee payable at the bookstore, $20 Pride Board Membership & $25 Football Booster Membership payable at the Mandatory Parents Meeting)
·        Junior Varsity $145 (same fees as above + $50 for pre-game meals payable at the Mandatory Parents Meeting)
·        Freshmen $145 (same as Junior Varsity)
Keeping MPHS Football affordable to all students, while helping our school and coaches build a competitive program is our goal. In order to be successful, we need parents of our players to get involved with the Booster Club. Please join us at our monthly meeting and help us chart a course of success for MPHS Football.
